Chris Christiansen February 1931-April 2014
Chris Chistiansen was born February 19, 1931 in Davenport Iowa, the youngest of five of Ione and A.J Chistiansen. Chris excelled as an artist from an early age, drawing characters from the comics, winning a Gold Award in a Chicago area high school competition in 1947 for his painting Blue Boy. He Graduated from Horace Mann High School in Oak Park Illinois and earned an Art Degree from Cornell College of Mount Vernon, Ia. It was their that he met and soon married Betz Christiansen and soon after was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served two years honorably at Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri as Training Cadre instructing soldiers to us heavy and light machine guns.

Following his Honorable Discharge at the rank of Corporal he moved briefly back to Chicago before being hired as the Art Director for LOOK Magazine Cirrculation Promotions in Des Moines Iowa. He and Betz raised four children. In 1981 he moved to Seattle to become Director of Promotions for Fishing & Hunting News until 1990 when he started his own Design and Creative firm. He never really retired, working continiously on a variety of projects as this site and the Stencils he created will atest to as well as the almost countless "Hand-Did" birthday cards he created individually over the years for his friends and family.

Chris passed peacefully surrounded by is his children on April 2, 2014 at the age of 83. He is preceeded in passing of his wife, both parents and his brothers and sisters, Betty, Jim, Sally and Dick. He is survived by his four children, several nieces and nephews, eleven grand children and four great grand children.
